Ternopil is a city with an ancient picturesque which lies on the bank of quiet river seret. Ternopil is the Capital of Halytske Podillya. It is main Scientific, Cultural, Economics and Administrative capital of Halychyna. Ternopil is known as a students city. Thousand of students study at its universities, academies, technical schools, colleges. I.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University “TSMU” has been rated among the first three medical schools of the IVth level of accreditation according to the latest rating list of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Ternopil State Medical University is coeducational, public institution of state higher education and it was founded in 957.

The Ternopil State Medical University “TSMU” is one of the oldest higher educational establishments of Ukraine. It was founded in 1957. At present, over 450 teachers work at the departments of the Ternopil State Medical University “TSMU”. Among them,3 corresponding members of academy of medical sciences of Ukraine, 80 professors (Phd, D.Sc), 278 Associate professors (Phd), 116 Assistant Professors (Phd), 3 Honorary workers of Higher School of Ukraine, 1 Honorary nventor of Ukraine, 3 Honorary physicians of Ukraine.

At Present more than 1100 international students from 48 different countries are studying today at Ternopil State Medical University, among them are students from USA, Austria, Germany, Poland, South East Asia, Africa and other countries of the world.

Ternopil State Medical University is the only and first one in Ukraine which developed the collaboration with American school and started American Nursing School where our students are studying with the corriculum of American Nursing School. Ternopil State medical University collaborates with The University of South Carolina for students academic excahnge programmes for the student of Nursing faculty . Now Ternopil State Medical University has Americal Nursing School and International Nursing School. The students from USA, UK, Germany and other western European countries are also studying there. The Nursing school schools trains in two:

· Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)- 2 years programme

· Bachelor of Science if Nursing (BSN)- 4 years programme (or two years for those who already have nursing degree)

The English medium training is existing for last ten years at Ternopil State Medical University.The teachers have great experience of teaching students in English language in all faculties. Students are studying at Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, Preparatory department, Clinical Training and at postgraduate level at Ternopil State Medical University.

The Ternopil State Medical University “TSMU” has trained over 4,000 specialists for 97 states of Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East countries. Among them there are 18 Doctors and 60 Candidates of Medical Science, about 150 clinical post-graduates (residents).

The Diploma of the Ternopil State Medical University “TSMU” is prestigious and recognized in all over the world. Among former graduates of the University there are ministers and members of parliaments in various countries, outstanding scientists and famous specialists who founded their own clinics abroad. Within the period of their studies the students undergo academic training in main medical specialities. They take part in examinations of patients, giving urgent aid, work at X-ray rooms, clinical and biochemical laboratories. Particular attention is paid to clinical rounds of patients, their management, filling in and arrangement of case histories with their subsequent analysis. Clinical and theoretical training of the students is performed at 66 departments of the Ternopil State Medical University “TSMU” and the best clinics of Ternopil with use of modern medical diagnostic and therapeutical equipment, computed provision of the academic process, a wide use of audio and video aids.
